puckthebunny’s fiery hair tutorial is so much easier to view and more organized than my mermaid one was, and so she totally inspired me to get my act together with mine~ Due to the theme you can’t even click to reblog the damned thing on the main tutorials page, but here’s the original that was done a few months back for better quality photos: Here!
Just a quick look on how I colored my extensions!
- First color is Manic Panic’s Voodoo Blue, as this matches up with the bottom layer of my actual hair. This helps to blend the extensions and my actual hair.
- This is where the ombre to the next colors happens. By mixing the first and second major color, it helps to blend them and make them look less harsh. Here is Manic Panic’s Voodoo Blue and Direction’s Apple Green mixed together in 1:1 ratios.
- The next is just Direction’s Apple Green.
- Another mix! Direction’s Apple Green and Direction’s Fluorescent Glow in the same ratio.
- Then, at the ends it’s just Direction’s Fluorescent Glow.
Make sure to really blend the colors, especially if you don’t want any straight across lines, on your hair/extensions. As you go on with your other pieces (I started at the bottom row of extensions) make sure to clip them in and go from there. I only did one piece at a time to make sure the sections of color matched up perfectly.
If you didn’t catch puckthebunny’s tutorial for a flame version, you can find it here: Here! Go check it out!

I’ve gotten a lot of nice comments on this post, so I’ve made it rebloggable by request:
Hello there, Anon, and thanks for the question!
Screenwriting is… oh man, it’s a tricky thing, and I have no idea if my story is ‘typical’ or not, because I’ve definitely had a bizarre path.
I went to USC Film School in Los Angeles to study animation - I wanted to go there because I knew that, the way the university was structured, I would also be able to study writing, game design, and a whole mess of other things that interested me. I worked hard, had a couple of internships during my four years at places like Disney and DreamWorks, and got an entry-level job at DreamWorks when I graduated.
It wasn’t until after I graduated, however, that I realized that I wanted to actually be a writer. By a complete twist of fate, a short animated film that I made during my fourth year of college got the attention of a director and producer, who got in touch wanting to hire me to write a feature-length, live-action comedy for them. I had never written a feature before then but jumped in and agreed to do it.

To celebrate over 3,000 brush orders, I’m giving away a new Manga Studio 5 inking tool!
Lando Calbrusshian is a smoooth inking brush with more stabilization and hand holding than any in my previous set.
In Manga Studio 4, “correction,” and “in and out” settings would rob a stroke of your input, dulling it to a plastic husk of what your hand laid down. All of my Manga Studio 4 brushes use none of these settings.
I’m learning that, in Manga Studio 5, stabilization works more like in SAI and Painter. Your stroke still translates, but is just given a hint of cubic interpolation to correct against the polling and report rates of our limited tablet hardware. In short - it doesn’t feel like cheating, it feels like a reasonable step to combat the infidelity of our hardware.
I’m working on a second set of Manga Studio 5 brushes. I’ve had the app longer and am learning how to optimize the settings of the brushes for better responsiveness and performance while taking into account these new findings. My Manga Studio 4 brushes are the product of seven years of tinkering and my Manga Studio 5 sets will see that same level of obsessive iteration.
More soon! And thanks for the overwhelming support and amazingly positive response!
